01.10.2018 In the first eight months of 2018, newly installed PV capacity in Germany totaled almost 2 GW. From January to September 2018, solar PV systems generated 36.8 TWh in Germany, which is 13% more than they did in the first nine months of the previous year.

02.10.2018 Official statistics confirm strong contraction of UK solar market. Overall, the United Kingdom reached a cumulative installed PV power capacity of 12.93 GW as of the end of August. Overall, 959,980 solar power generators with a combined cumulative capacity of 12,933.8 MW are currently connected to the grid in Great Britain.


Around 45% of this is represented by solar parks exceeding 5 MW in size, while another 20% come from residential installations up to 4 kW.

03.10.2018 A new report published by business consultants Frost & Sullivan expects around 90 GW of new solar installations by the end of 2018.

“The future of renewable power will be hybrid, with special emphasis on storage solutions," says Maria Benintende, Energy & Environment Senior Industry Analyst at F&S.

The report expects global investment in renewable energy for the year to hit US$228.3 billion, a slight increase of 0.7% over 2017.

04.10.2018 Volvo installed 15,000 solar panels at Belgian factory. By the way, renewables have supplied the electricity at Volvo's European plants since 2008. The company wants global manufacturing operations to be carbon neutral by 2025.

05.10.2018 Indian state of Madhya Pradesh has upped its solar game plan. Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (MPUVNL) says it has achieved a historic low tariff of Rs 1.38 ($0.019) per unit for PV rooftop systems to be installed on central government buildings.

06.10.2018 Ukraine launches its first solar plant in the abandoned area around the former Chernobyl nuclear power station. The site will create enough energy to power around 2,000 households.


07.10.2018 Oman set to build second mega solar plant as it eyes up to 2.6GW from renewables by 2025.The second utility scale solar plant in Oman, known as Solar 2022 IPP (Independent Power Project), will be connected to the main interconnected system in Oman with a capacity between 500MW to 1,000MW.

The new capacity in solar power includes three large-scale solar PV schemes each of around 500MW capacity or more. For now, they are referred to as Solar IPP 2022, Solar IPP 2023 and Solar IPP 2024
